Chairs: Antique & Unique Strikingly austere, this Chippendale style dining or side chair preserves the clean, crisp lines of late 18th century American design. Unlike its carved and more decorative city cousins, however, this example preserves the hallmarks of country craftsmanship: straight front legs with plain stretchers, gently shaped back legs and rail, a simple back splat and rush seat. The design remains a classic, and is as comfortable for sitting as it is pleasing to look at.
