SUMMARY:Family History Day 1776
DESCRIPTION:On June 6\, 2026\, from 10 am to 3 pm (rain date June 7) on the Village Green in Cutchogue; the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council will hold its fourth annual Family History Day\, this year with a 1776 theme. The day is designed to be a fun way for families and children to learn about their local history. It’s created around the 3rd New York Regiment\, which will be reenacting drills & recreating an encampment from the Revolutionary War. This group is named and modeled after the regiment authorized on May 25\, 1775\, and comprised of men from Suffolk County. They will also be talking about our area’s involvement in the Revolutionary War. \nThere will be colonial cooking demonstrations with food cooked over an open flame from 18th-century recipes. See examples of colonial textile making\, including spinning\, weaving\, and embroidery.  Learn about the local Corchaug Indian tribe through hands-on teaching methods of Tony Valderrama of the Wilderness Traveling Museum. The Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library will be providing colonial games\, roaming balladeers will be performing music\, and of course\, we will be offering tours of all of our historic buildings on the Village Green. \nThere will also be food and raffles\, so bring the whole family and have fun while learning about your local history. DESCRIPTION:Love in the Time of Revolution: A Colonial Wedding Reenactment- We invite you to come witness what a wedding in Cutchogue could have looked like on the eve of the American Revolution. We are celebrating the union of Gershom Terry\, a local Revolutionary War veteran and  Elizabeth Betsy (Case) Terry — who were originally married before the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Experience the customs\, the music\, the fashion and the food of a colonial era wedding\, while learning what life was like on the North Fork during the Revolutionary War. This is a ticketed event. Mark your calender\, tickets will go on sale in April. Established in 1936\, originally known as the “Southold Choral Society\,” today’s chorale has members from all over the North Fork. The 2026 membership\, over 20 strong\, represents a broad age range and blends decades of experience with fresh ideas to create a vibrant musical atmosphere. They are actively seeking new members to continue this wonderful tradition. All singers at varying levels of experience are welcome. \nThe singing membership\, along with an accomplished pianist and instrumentalists\, regularly showcase the breadth of the American Musical Tradition with this concert focusing on Patriotic Music. DESCRIPTION:The Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council & Museums\, in collaboration with North Fork Vintage Cars\, is hosting the Rock and Roll Car Show on Sept. 26 (Rain Date Sept. 27) from 10 am-3 pm on the Village Green in Cutchogue. There is a $5.00 suggested donation for spectators and a $20.00 fee at the gate for car participants. (Gate for cars opens at 9 am.)  Select vehicles will be given trophies. Any year collectibles are welcome. Free tours of the historic buildings\, Food\, Raffles\, and music by DJ Gerry. Proceeds go to benefit our Youth Scholar program for paid internships at the Council for Mattituck-Cutchogue HighSchool Students. SUMMARY:Cutchogue Old Burying Ground Tour
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nSunday\, October 4\, 2026\, (rain date Oct. 18th) as a cooperative effort\, the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council and the North Fork Community Theatre will host their fourth annual tour of the Old Cutchogue Burying Ground. \n  \nThe tour begins at a booth on the North West corner of the Old Burial Ground at 32770 Main Road (corner of Main Road and Harbor Lane)\, Actors in period costumes recount the life stories of historic figures who are buried in the graveyard. \n  \nSix “widow guides” dressed in Victorian mourning costumes will guide you through the burial ground\, where the costumed actors will recount the lives of notable figures in Cutchogue’s history while standing atop their graves. The notables include a veteran of the French-Indian War\, an exiled tory\, a beloved school teacher\, former slaves and many more who were responsible for forming Cutchogue as we know it today. This year\, in honor of America’s 250th\, we will be featuring veteran’s of the Revolutionary War buried at the site. The tour will include a brief history of the burial site and Mary Kalich\, a member of the board of directors of the theatre will give a brief history of the theater and tell how it was once a church. \n  \nTours will start at 2pm and end at 4pm. Tour groups of a maximum of 20 people will be scheduled in 10-minute intervals.Tickets are $25.00/pp and are available at https://nfct.com or  at 631-298-NFCT (6328) All proceeds equally benefit the two organizations that are hosting the tour. Parking is at the Fire Dept. Annex. SUMMARY:Ghost Hunting on the Village Green
DESCRIPTION:Become a part of a paranormal investigation\, just like the ones you see on television and YouTube! On October 24\, the L.I. Paranormal Investigators are coming to the Village Green in Cutchogue for an exclusive tour of the historic buildings of the Cutchogue New Suffolk Historical Council & Museums\, including the Wickham house\, which often makes the top ten list of most haunted buildings on Long Island. After the team has had a chance to coallate\, examine and interpret the findings\, a follow-up of what was found will be presented in the spring. Follow-up from last year’s event shows evidence of haunting in the buildings you will be visiting. You will learn about the history of each building and witness a live paranormal investigation and learn about the scientific methods that are used. There are two sessions\, with one starting at 6 pm and the second at 8 pm. Report to the Schoolhouse and dress warmly. Tickets are $60.00 and will be available for sale in September.
