SUMMARY:The Parian Phenomenon
DESCRIPTION:1840s British statuary porcelain manufacturers began producing a fine bisque with a satin finish that mimicked the look of Parian marble.  They were able to accurately reproduce smaller versions of museum pieces\, prompting an explosion in the popularity of this beautiful figural china. The Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical  Council offers you a rare look at the extensive collection of a local private collector. Join us for a refreshments & snacks at the opening reception on June 15 at 2pm at the Wickham House on the Village Green\, where the exhibit will be on display until October. Program partially funded by Suffolk County Department of Economic Development and Planning and Legislator Stark

See examples of colonial textile making\, including spinning\, weaving and embroidery. about the local Corchaug Indian tribe through hands-on teaching methods from Shinnecock Cultural Consultant Shane Weeks and wampum making demonstrations from Arthur Krimms. The Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library will be providing colonial games\, and of course\, we will be offering tours of all of our historic buildings on the Village Green. \nThere will also be food and raffles\, so bring the whole family and have fun while learning about your local history.
